February 22, 2008 - Jason Smith was born on November 2, 1973 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He is currently a participating member on the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team. Smith joined the NHL during the 1993-94 season and since then has racked up approximately 160 points.

During the 1992 NHL Entry Draft, the New Jersey Devils selected Jason Smith as part of their team. Smith came into the NHL with a Bill Hunter Trophy and plenty of accomplishments such as earning a spot on the Western Hockey League's all-rookie team, all-star team and gold medal-winning Team Canada during the early 1990s.

A knee-injury sidelined Smith for a year - the same year the New Jersey Devils took home the 1995 Stanley Cup title. Two years later, Smith was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs and then traded again to the Edmonton Oilers a year later. From 2001-2007, Smith was named Captain, one of the longest serving times as captain in Oilers history. In 2006, Smith was part of the Oilers run to earn the Stanley Cup but lost to the Carolina Hurricanes. A year later, Smith was once more traded, this time back to the Philadelphia Flyers. Three months later, he was made captain for the 2007-08 season.
